What Is The Next Step?
The Next Step is a career exploration and development program created to expose youth, young adults, and adults to a variety of pathways for success. This program was developed to show that there is more than one way to build a meaningful future.
For some, that path may include attending a four-year college. For others, it may begin with community college, earning certifications, learning a trade, starting a business, or entering a career field through hands-on training and experience. The purpose of this program is to help participants understand their options and make informed decisions about their future.
What We Want Participants To Know
At Richelle’s Heart, we believe people should have access to information that helps them make real decisions about their future. The Next Step is designed to help participants understand that:
College is an option, but it is not the only option.
Community college can be a smart and affordable place to begin before transferring to a four-year university.
Trade schools and certification programs can lead to stable, rewarding careers.
Entrepreneurship and business ownership are real paths to success.
There are careers in many different fields, including healthcare, construction, beauty, technology, education, public service, skilled trades, and more.
Our goal is to make sure participants are exposed to the many possibilities that exist so they can choose a path that works for them.
Why The Next Step Matters
Many people are only exposed to a limited view of success. Too often, they are made to believe that they must choose only one route or settle for whatever opportunity is immediately in front of them.
The Next Step was created to change that. We want individuals to know that success is not one-size-fits-all. There are many ways to build a career, create stability, and pursue a future with purpose. Through this program, participants will be introduced to different industries, educational pathways, and opportunities that can help them discover what best fits their goals, interests, and strengths.
What The Program Offers
The Next Step Program provides opportunities for participants to learn, grow, and connect with professionals and resources that can support their future. Program offerings may include career exploration events, workshops, guest speakers, mentorship opportunities, college and trade school information, business and entrepreneurship guidance, resume and interview preparation, and exposure to certification and training programs.
This program is designed to be informative, practical, and encouraging for those who are still exploring their options, as well as for those who are ready to take action.
Exploration Career Fair
One of the signature entry points into The Next Step Program is The Next Step: Exploration Career Fair.
This event is not a traditional hiring fair. Instead, it is an exploration experience designed to expose attendees to a wide range of careers, industries, and pathways. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with professionals, colleges, trade schools, business owners, and organizations that can provide insight into what different career paths look like and what steps are needed to pursue them.
The purpose of the Exploration Career Fair is to inspire, inform, and connect individuals to resources that can help them take the next step toward their future.
Who The Program Is For
The Next Step Program is open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including middle school students, high school students, young adults, adults seeking a career change, and those simply looking for more direction and support.
Whether someone already has a plan or is still trying to figure things out, this program is designed to meet them where they are and help them move forward.
